Antioxidant Support
Antioxidant Support is an effective herbal product that has been expressly formulated by Herbal Extracts Plus to help the body combat destructive, oxidative, free radical damage to the body and build the body's natural defenses against disease for the maintenance of good health. Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms that at least one unpaired electron and are therefore unstable and highly reactive, because they seek and try to pair with other electrons, thus mutating the chemical structure of other elements. During normal cellular processes (including breathing, exercising, etc.), extra oxygen atoms (or free radicals) are often produced and are used by the body to destroy foreign invaders like bacteria. However, if these free radicals are allowed to roam unchecked, they can cause cellular DNA to break down, mutating the cells and transforming normal cells into unhealthy cells. Free radicals are highly reactive and should, when possible, be inhibited by the body before cell damage occurs; consequently, the role of antioxidants becomes a "search and destroy" mission. They scavenge the body for free radicals that can bind to and damage cellular compounds - and then digest and neutralize free radicals before they damage critical cell parts, including lipids, membrane lipoproteins, proteins and DNA. These qualities are also believed to aid the body build and strengthen the immune system and fight against serious disease, such as arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular disease (by helping to inhibit the oxidation of cholesterol), melanoma, macular degeneration, respiratory problems and other invasive infections. Antioxidants are also essential for good brain function and helping to delay the effects of ageing on the brain.

Grapeseed is considered a very powerful botanical antioxidant. Grapeseed is a superior plant extract that helps to protect the entire body as one of the most effective free-radical fighters ever discovered. Grapeseeds are respected as an important source of Nature's most potent antioxidants, tannin compounds (called proanthocyanidins or also called OPCs for oligomeric procyanidins or PCOs for procyanidolic oligomers). They are classified as flavonols, and the way in which these versatile healing compounds are distinct from flavonoids is their simple chemical structure, which allows them to be readily absorbed into the bloodstream. They work actively against fat-soluble and water-soluble oxidants, thus supporting protection of cells from damage and mutation, and also assisting the body to combat serious invasive disease and infection.
Green Tea is an ancient and potent tonic that supports the body's efforts to boost the immune system. It is said to possess antibacterial, antiviral and anti-carcinogenic properties, and the Chinese have used this herbal supplement in their centuries-old system of alternative medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine) as a natural antioxidant to revitalize and prolong life. Green Tea is rich in polyphenols that are said to possess potent antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties. The catechin in the polyphenols called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is thought to be over two hundred times more powerful than the known antioxidant, vitamin E, in neutralizing free radicals. It is also rich in fluoride and may reduce tooth decay.
Milk Thistle is said to be extraordinarily useful as an herbal antioxidant and tonic that supports the body's efforts to safeguard the liver from all types of liver disorders. As an herbal free-radical scavenger, it may help to protect the liver from toxins and pollutants by assisting the body to fight free radical damage to cells, and it is also claimed to help stimulate the production of new liver cells. Furthermore, Milk Thistle may help to protect specialized immune cells in the liver known as Kuppfer cells by engulfing bacteria, toxins and other invasive matter from entering into the liver and may also destroy harmful cells that have entered blood circulation as the first step in spreading to other parts of the body. Another compound in it is said to perform as an antioxidant, which may inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol into a form that creates plaques in the linings of artery walls.
Antioxidant Support is a combination of the finest quality, all natural medicinal extracts and herbal antioxidants that have been specially chosen to support the reduction of oxidative and free radical damage to the body's tissues or cells and build the body's natural defenses against disease.
