Supplemental Glucosamine Sulfate is often said to have helped many people find relief from the discomforts and inflammation of osteoarthritis, asthma, arthritis, bursitis, sciatica, osteoporosis, allergies and tendonitis, and it may play a major role as a support for digestive, respiratory and urinary tract function. History:

Glucosamine is normally manufactured in the body from the simple carbohydrate, glucose and the amino acid, glutamine, and classified as an amino sugar, which occurs in all vertebrate tissues (including that of marine creatures, from which supplements are derived). Glucosamine is also naturally present in the shells of shellfish, animal bones and bone marrow and also present in some fungi. Unlike other forms of sugar in the body, amino sugars are components of carbohydrates that are incorporated into the structure of body tissues, rather than being used as a source of energy. Glucosamine is produced by the body as a building block to create protective synovial fluids and tissues around joints and is vital for the creation and maintenance of cartilage, the main tissue that cushions and protects joints during movement. If there is an inadequate supply of Glucosamine, joint distress (arthritis) and many other health problems can develop; therefore, we are fortunate that easy-to-take Glucosamine Sulfate supplements are now available. When delivered into the joint, Glucosamine Sulfate is said to bind to cartilage to help build a compound called glycosaminoglycan, the main structural component of cartilage, and new evidence claims that it may also help cells called chondrocytes produce new cartilage and renew joint function. There are several forms of Glucosamine, and the difference between various forms is simply the source from which they come and how they are stabilized, and many experts consider Glucosamine Sulfate to be the best source, because it is more easily absorbed into the bloodstream.  In addition, other forms of Glucosamine do not contain sulfate, which many researchers regard as most important, because sulfate is needed by the body to produce cartilage.

Beneficial Uses:

Glucosamine Sulfate is thought to support the body's efforts to naturally enhance joint flexibility and motion. It is used to support and repair damaged arthritic joints, reduce the pain of stiff, aching joints, relieve inflamed discs, sciatica, tendonitis and many forms of arthritis. Because Glucosamine is called a precursor for glycosaminoglycans, and glycosaminoglycans are a major component of joint cartilage, supplemental Glucosamine may help to inhibit cartilage degeneration and manage arthritis.

Glucosamine is also thought to support reduced joint stress suffered by those who participate in regular, repetitive motions. It is said to support the body's own healing resources to combat both the symptoms and causes of arthritis, and when combined with Chondroitin Sulfate, Glucosamine is believed to have an even greater beneficial effect on osteoarthritis.

In some clinical trials, Glucosamine reputedly has been reported  to actually support the body's own natural efforts to build joint cartilage and may slightly reduce the destruction of cartilage caused by taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which are commonly prescribed for people with arthritis.

Glucosamine is involved in the formation and continuing health of nails, tendons, skin, eyes, bones, ligaments and even heart valves.

Glucosamine is said to play a major role in the mucous secretions of the digestive, respiratory and urinary tracts, and supplemental Glucosamine Sulfate may be a useful support for food allergies, respiratory allergies, asthma, vaginitis and candidiasis.
