Purpose of Formulation:
The herbal supplements in this blend work to alleviate all the symptoms of gastrointestinal distress, as well as promote and maintain a healthy digestive tract.
Ingredients:
A mixture of 35% Alfalfa 5:1, 35% Peppermint Leaf 4:1, and 30% Fennel Seed 4:1
Alfalfa Leaf has an alkalizing effect on the body. It is a great source of mineral supplements that are all alkaline (including chlorophyll), which have a neutralizing effect on the intestinal tract, thereby easing digestive problems, such as upset stomach, gastritis and indigestion. Alfalfa Leaf - the " Father of all Foods ” - supports the elimination of bloating and water retention and is an excellent source of nutrients that will help boost a sluggish appetite, relieve constipation and detoxify the body, especially the liver. Peppermint Leaf promotes good digestion and improves the appetite. Its foremost use as a medicine (in home remedies, alternative medicine and pharmaceutical preparations) is applied to relieve indigestion and the intestinal gas caused by certain foods; hence, its use in after-dinner mints and liqueurs. It relaxes the stomach muscles and promotes burping. Some studies have shown that Peppermint lessens the amount of time food spends in the stomach by stimulating the gastric lining, and because Peppermint increases stomach acidity and stimulates the flow of bile, it helps to digest food before passing into the intestines and colon. This could make it especially useful in treating Crohn's disease. Peppermint slightly anesthetizes the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, easing the discomforts of indigestion, including heartburn, hiccups, flatulence and stomachache. Peppermint calms a queasy stomach and is good for nausea and vomiting. It is said to be especially calming for the lower bowel and has been helpful in relieving diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome. Since ancient times, Fennel Seed has been primarily used to stimulate good digestion (it flavors absinthe and other liqueurs digestifs). It relaxes the smooth muscle lining of the digestive tract and has helped to alleviate acid-stomach, flatulence, food poisoning, motion sickness, nausea and vomiting. The herb is an aromatic stimulant that is good for the gastrointestinal tract and relieves abdominal pain, colon disorders, gastrointestinal tract spasms, and also helps to expel gas and ease infant colic. Although it is sometimes thought to perk up a poor appetite, Fennel, conversely, also has a very old application in herbal medicine as an appetite suppressant, as it allays hunger for awhile, and may help in weight loss programs. When you need relief from indigestion, gas and upset stomach, open your herbal cabinet, and reach for the Fennel. (Click here for more information on Fennel Seed)
