Urinary Tract Health Support
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a condition where one or more structures in the urinary tract become infected after bacteria overcome its strong natural defenses. Urinary tract infections affect both women and men, involving the functions of the bladder, kidneys, ureters, penis and urethra, etc., and depending upon the area of infection, the symptoms can vary. All the symptoms are unpleasant, and that is why Herbal Extracts Plus has combined two of the finest all-natural medicinal extracts in an effective herbal product called Urinary Tract Health Support, using only premium quality plant extracts that are designed to promote the production and flow of urine, while at the same time working to destroy bacteria that can cause infection and poor urinary tract function. Nearly eighty-five percent of urinary tract infections are caused by E. coli, a bacterium normally found in the intestines. Changes in the acid-alkaline balance - the amount or type of acid within the genital and urinary tracts - are major contributors to lowering the resistance to infection. For example, beneficial organisms called lactobacilli increase the acidic environment in the urinary tract, and reductions in their number increase pH and, therefore, the risk of infection - which may include pyelonephritis (a kidney infection) and urethritis (infection of the urethra). Then there are bladder infections, including cystitis; and others, including chlamydia and prostatitis. Accompanying these infections there may be an urgency to urinate, frequent and painful urination, and even after the bladder has been emptied, there may be a desire to urinate again. The urine can have a strong, unpleasant odor and be cloudy, and sometimes there is abdominal pain, fever, nausea or burning and itching. Don't let these symptoms compromise your lifestyle. Now we have a way to nourish the urinary tract, support relief for urinary tract infections and maintain long-term healthy urinary function - and it's as easy as clicking on Urinary Tract Support.

The common Cranberry is one of Nature's best weapons against cystitis and urinary tract infections. It is a natural diuretic and urinary antiseptic that helps prevent the spread of bacterial infection in the urinary tract. In the early 1920s, American scientists discovered that Cranberry increased the urine's acid content, and because bacteria cannot survive in an acidic environment, the researchers speculated that this was the reason Cranberry was effective against urinary tract infections, which are commonly caused by bacteria known as Escherichia coli. Interestingly, however, recent laboratory studies (conducted in the mid-1990s) revealed that Cranberry's effectiveness is not due to its ability to acidify the urine as originally thought, but to its ability to prevent E. coli from adhering to the cells lining the wall of the bladder. Without adhering to the bladder, E. coli cannot flourish, and test tube studies also suggest that Cranberry may inhibit the adherence of other species of organisms that cause urinary tract infections as well, such as Proteus, Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Enterococcus and Pseudomonas. In fact, acting as an herbal remedy for bladder infections, Cranberry prevents bacteria from sticking to the wall of the bladder, thus flushing the potential troublemakers out of the body before they do damage. Moreover, while Cranberry is known as an antiseptic diuretic for killing the bacteria that cause kidney and bladder infection, it is also helpful in dissolving kidney stones and gallstones.
Uva Ursi has been used for centuries as a mild (but effective) herbal diuretic with powerful antiseptic qualities that help to remedy the full range of urinary tract infections, such as prostatitis, cystitis, urethritis, vaginitis and infection of the uterus, bladder and kidneys. The arbutin content is a strong astringent and antiseptic that has a curative effect on disorders of the bladder, kidneys, spleen, liver, pancreas and small intestine, and is also a tonic that strengthens and imparts tone to the urinary mucous membrane. The herb's ability to promote excretion of fluids helps to eliminate wastes and toxins and the accumulation of uric acid in the blood to relieve gout, arthritis and kidney stones. It is also very popular in herbal and alternative medicine as a great way to eliminate excess water weight.
